Nick A. Lygidakis is the founder of the Lygidakis Dental Clinic back in 1985 and until 2016 he has also served as Senior Consultant and Director in the NHS Dental Centre for Children in Athens. He has been teaching in the postgraduate programs of the Universities of Giessen, Germany and Leeds, UK, in the latter being Honorary Reader (Associate Professor) in Paediatric Dentistry since 2002. He has been also involved in the training of the undergraduate and mainly the postgraduate students in the Paediatric Dentistry Dept of the University of Athens the periods, 1985-1996 and 2016-2021. He qualified from the University of Athens and he fulfilled 5 years training in Paediatric Dentistry in Athens, Oxford and London. He holds a MScM in Genetics, a MScD in Child Dental Health and a PhD.

He has served as President and Secretary of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry and as President of the Hellenic Society of Paediatric Dentistry, in the former being a founding member since 1990. He has been involved in the organization of a great number of European and Greek scientific and professional activities and CPD programs, including the ‘EAPD Hermes’ and ‘EAPD Athena’ European programs that he first introduced.

He has 62 publications and 5 book chapters, with more than 4500 citations, 360 abstracts and more than 400 invited lectures in International and Hellenic Congresses and Seminars. His research and clinical interests are in the fields of dental anomalies, special needs patients treated under general anaesthesia, trauma, fissure sealants and interceptive orthodontics and he is frequently an invited speaker internationally on these subjects. He is referee in several International journals while from January 2019 he serves as Editor in Chief of the European Archives of Paediatric Dentistry.

During his career he has been awarded with various awards and distinctions, including honorary Fellowship of the Royal Society of Medicine in UK, Fellowship of the International College of Dentists and Membership of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the New York Academy of Science.
